Happy September Everybody! The first day of fall is just around the corner and we wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge some things happening at Westway Animal Clinic.

As many of you are aware, Dr. Peter is now off on maternity leave and, while we await the arrival of her little one, we wanted to take this opportunity to wish her and her family all the best! It is an exciting time for all of us as our Westway Animal Clinic Family expands.

We know that some of you have noticed that we have been much busier than usual and it is something we feel strongly about addressing with you all. With one veterinarian away, Dr. Longrigg and I have been working hard to see all of our patients, 7 days a week. As you can imagine, this is no small undertaking as we work diligently with the team to provide the same care and service that you have come to expect.

We are on the hunt for a veterinarian who will be a good fit with our practice. This is no small order – we have been so lucky to have Dr. Peter and Dr. Longrigg and finding another veterinarian that can deliver the type of medicine our clients have come to expect with a positive attitude, patience and a kind heart has been a challenge. We recognize that this has meant we are not always as readily available to accommodate your requests as usual but hope that you can understand – we do not want to compromise our level of care or service.

We ask you to please be as patient as you can be. Understand that we always prioritize pets who are truly ill or require immediate care and this does mean that, from time-to-time, you will have to wait. We can only hope that you appreciate how important our triage process is – if it were your pet who needed immediate assistance, this process would ensure that they were our priority.

We cannot wait to be able to announce that a new veterinarian is joining our team and we can assure you that we are working hard towards this. In the meantime, our whole team agreed that we wanted to take this opportunity to convey our greatest thanks and appreciation to all of our amazing clients who have been so patient, supportive and generous through this demanding time.  It only helps to reinforce for us just how lucky we are to be a part of this community; with incredible people and their incredible pets.

I am so proud to be a veterinarian… and so proud to own Westway Animal Clinic. Without all of you, it wouldn’t be the place I consider to be “my home away from home!”
